Meet the Team

AGT has 27 staff, most of whom work in the field to ensure that the company is represented at each of the 1,500+ race days each year.  There are six full-time Regional Betting Ring Managers supplemented by 17 part-time Betting Ring Managers, who step in for clashing race meetings and the busy summer months.  AGT has two full-time and one-part time staff member in the office, along with an outsourced accountancy function and the Managing Director.

Tim Moore

Managing Director

Tim has been in charge at AGT (then NJPC) since 2002, having worked for four years as a Betting Ring Manager before that.  His previous experience was with Ladbrokes, where he worked for nearly 15 years in the Nottingham area.  Tim spent over a year on secondment as 'betting expert' with the Gambling Commission in 2006-2007, leading up to the implementation of the Gambling Act.  He was appointed to the AGT Board as an Executive Director in 2012.

Tracey Barlow

Chair

Tracey joined AGT in 2008 as Independent Director and Chairman of AGT's Board. She is responsible for ensuring our business is conducted and governed to a high standard and that we operate within the principles set out in AGT's Articles of Association. Tracey's background is managing large commercial infrastructure organisations and she has over 20 years experience in both Executive and Non-Executive Board roles. She has always had a passion for horse racing and brings this passion combined with her business management knowledge to her role as Chairman.

Steve Winfield

Independent Director

Steve joined AGT as an Independent Director in 2008, having previously spent nearly 30 years in the Financial Services industry.  Since then, he has specialised in regulatory roles including Chair of the Greyhound Regulatory Board, Chair of the Cost Lawyer Standards Board and Chair of The Funeral Planning Authority.  He has recently been appointed to the Disciplinary Panel and Licensing Committee at the BHA.  He also runs a small stud breeding for National Hunt racing.

Andrew Boardley

Regional Betting Ring Manager

Andrew was a Detective with the Metropolitan Police for 30 years, before working at Harrods with Mohamed Al-Fayed for 18 months as a Security Investigator.  He joined the National Joint Pitch Council on its inception and has been with the company since 1998 as a Betting Ring Manager.  He has been a part-owner in a few racehorses (mostly slow ones) with the highlight being Philson Run who ran fourth in the Grand National and won the Midland Grand National and the Eider.  He enjoys tennis, golf and spending time with the grandchildren.

On retiring from the police after completing 30 years service, John joined the team in 2008 initially as a part-time Betting Ring Manager. In the summer of 2013 he took over the role of Regional Betting Ring Manager for all the Scottish Racecourses, along with Newcastle, Hexham and Carlisle.

Andy joined AGT in 2008, having previously worked as Managing Director of Heathorns International in Malta for 8 years. Andy is currently the Regional Betting Ring Manager for the South West.

Vicki joined the NJPC in 1999 as a Betting Advisor and was promoted to Betting Ring Manager in 2001.  She works predominantly in the South East.

Neil Pateman BRM

Neil joined the NJPC in 1999 as a Betting Advisor and was made up to a Betting Ring Manager in 2004.  Neil has held several other roles in the gambling industry including working for Ladbrokes for 5 years prior to joining the NJPC.  Neil has also worked for the Press Association as an SP returner and data transmitter, and was a commentator at Nottingham Greyhound stadium for William Hill radio.

Mark has been a Betting Ring Manager for AGT (then NJPC) since 2004 having previously been employed for three years as a Betting Advisor.

His previous employment includes serving in the RAF for eight years, Accounts Manager for a finance company and working in the betting ring for various bookmakers.

Allan Fraser

Allan retired from police duty in 2012 after 30 years' service in the City of Edinburgh and Scottish Borders.  He joined AGT in 2016 and works predominantly at the five Scottish tracks, dropping down into northern England as necessary.  Away from the racecourse, Allan particularly enjoys rugby and skiing.

Brian joined AGT in 2017 having worked as a racecourse judge for The Jockey Club and BHA since 1999. He works mainly in north-west England.

Kerry joined the NJPC at its inception in 1998 as a Senior Betting Ring Manager covering an area from Pontefract to Yarmouth, including high-profile tracks such as Cheltenham, Newmarket and Doncaster .  Prior to that he served as a police officer for thirty years.  After working for fifteen years full-time, he now works on a part-time basis.  He is a family man with a great love of racing from a very early age.

Malcolm was employed by the Totepool Racecourse Division from 1997 to 2015, having previously worked at British Coal from 1972 to 1997. He joined AGT in March 2016 and works primarily on the northern tracks.

Paul served with the police for 30 years before joining AGT as a Betting Ring Manager.  He left AGT for five years to work as a Starting Price Validator but he has now returned to the betting ring.

Paul is a keen golfer, a qualified cricket coach/umpire and a qualified wine tutor.

Ted joined the NJPC at its outset as a part-time Betting Ring Manager.  Prior to that he was an off-course bookmaker for ten years, following a successful sporting career as one of the few professionals to conquer both football and cricket.  For the last fifteen years he has worked at Sheffield United FC as host to the match day sponsors.

Terry Lang

Terry started work as a full-time Betting Ring Manager at the inception of AGT (then NJPC) in 1998.  Subsequently he left AGT in 2001 to operate as an on-course bookmaker.  He retired from bookmaking in 2012, since when he has worked part-time for AGT.  Prior to AGT, Terry worked in insurance and part-time clerking on the point-to-point and trotting circuit in Wales, SW Midlands and West Country.  Outside work he has had (and still has) a number of racing greyhounds based at Swindon.

Geoff Newell

Geoff had a successful career in sales in addition to owning his own betting shop and bookmaking business.  He joined AGT as a part-time Betting Ring Manager in 2004 and has acted as a BRM on 33 different racecourses.

Russell joined AGT in 2008, having previously been Manager and Company Secretary at Leicester Racecourse for 11 years.  During that time he represented the smaller independent Racecourses on the RCA Safety Group and prior to that he was Finance Director for a parcel company in Leicester for 8 years.

Stephen joined AGT in January 2019 after many years' experience of working in the betting ring.  He recently took semi-retirement after a long career in Insurance Brokerage and is now retained as a consultant by his employers.  His interest in racing can be traced back to his late teens when, much to his mother's disappointment, he worked at his local bookmakers one summer holiday marking up the results on a wipe board through a smoke-filled haze.

Bill joined the NJPC as a Betting Ring Manager when it was formed in 1998, having spent five years as a Ring Inspector for the Jockey Club.  His earlier career was with the Wiltshire Constabulary, mostly Traffic Branch, Driving and Surveillance Driver Training.  He retired as a full-time Betting Ring Manager in 2007, and has continued to work part-time when required.

Will has worked as a part-time Betting Ring Manager since the NJPC was launched in 1998, covering his first meeting at Wincanton on Boxing Day. Away from the racecourse, Will has worked for Nationwide Building Society in Swindon since 1994, and is currently responsible for managing change across all of their current account and credit card products. Will is a keen Luton Town fan and once ran the Oxford Half Marathon.

John worked in the Flying Squad at Scotland Yard for 33 years before joining AGT (NJPC) as a part-time Betting Ring Manager in 2000.  He was subsequently appointed to the NJPC Inspectorate with a brief to investigate illegal gambling.  No evidence of illegal gambling emerged and John resumed his role as BRM in 2001.

Andy has been working for AGT as a Betting Ring Manager since March 2016.  He previously was the owner/manager of an independent betting office for 30 years in Lancashire.

Greg Vince

Betting Ring Manager

Greg started in the betting industry straight from school, spending 17 years at Ladbrokes in credit and retail across London.  After moving north he worked at the Hills head office in Leeds between 1989-2000, followed by 8 years as Trading Director for Sky Bet. He worked in Gibraltar for 3 years as Head of Trading for both Betfred and Coral Interactive before joining AGT as a Betting Ring Manager in March 2016.

Sarah Woodborne

Newmarket-based Sarah joined AGT as a part-time Betting Ring Manager in April 2014.  Sarah's past experience includes around 20 years working in on-course bookmaking starting out in the days when chalk was still commonplace.  Latterly she was a partner in Evington of Newmarket.  Having worked at around 50 tracks and visited all bar Ffos Las, Sarah loves the charm and diversity of British racecourses.

Wendy joined AGT in April 2019.  She worked in retail bookmaking from an early age, in the days of boardmarkers, manual settling and 'the blower' rather than TV pictures........some would say the good old days!  Having started out as a cashier, she quickly progressed to management and saw many changes during her career.  Away from work, she enjoys travelling, walking, gardening, home crafts and card making.

After a career in retail bookmaking, Angela joined the St. Ives team in 2011 and she is AGT's primary contact for Late Pay bets.  Away from work, she is a keen rower on the River Great Ouse and she enjoys spending time with her family.

Jill has been with AGT (then NJPC) since 2005, after moving to the Huntingdon area from the West Midlands. She originally worked in the Advanced Booking Service (ABS) and, when the department closed, she moved into general administration of the company, dealing with day to day bookmaker and racecourse matters from our St. Ives base.
